Brissago, with its Mediterranean vegetation and Lake Maggiore, is comparable to a Mediterranean seaside resort.
The sandy beach of the Lido or Bagno Publico of Ascona and the large granite cubes of the eastern shore of Brissago, inviting you to sunbathe, are almost as beautiful as the shores of the Mediterranean. Except that one looks in vain for the military umbrella rows and annoying beach vendors.
Bathing at the eastern beach of Brissago: Here one comfortably steps into the water on granite blocks. At the Bar Bahia di Brissago you will also be pampered with cooling drinks and delicious snacks.
Of course, one sometimes misses the high foaming waves of the sea. On the other side, the freshwater of Lago Maggiore provides a refreshing and clean feeling, while the salt water on the skin creates an uncomfortably efficient sticky base for the subsequent sand panade.
Be that as it may, Lake Maggiore is an inviting bathing paradise for most people only at high temperatures. In all other cases you don't have to do without a bath: In Locarno there is the Lido, which offers outdoor and indoor pools heated up to 35 degrees all year round. The entrance fee of CHF 14 is not exaggerated (children and families will be reduced), the infrastructure is modern and well maintained. The large slides can also be used at low outside temperatures, as their entrance, a special stair tower, is enclosed in glass. The landing also takes place indoors. Great!
Only the snack bar doesn't serve up anything very tasty or inexpensive. In the outside area you can serve what you have brought yourself. The restaurant of the Lido is not to be visited in your swimming trunks: The "Blue" serves genuine Michelin stars on the plates, their enjoyment leads neither for the belly nor for the purse to fullness feelings.
In short: Locarno's Lido is warm and recommended for any rainy or cool day! Lido di Locarno
